Me As Poet

I started writing poems when I was 20, I got my inspiration from a friend who wrote wonderful two liners. When I shared my poems with friends and family, they really liked it and encouraged me to keep writing.

 

So I allowed myself to flow and express my feelings in form of poetry. It was surprising that I could write so easily in Gujarati language my mother tongue, despite having my education in English. May be this was because I would read a lot of gujarati books from my fathers personal library.

 

Poetries for me are a conversation with the heart. So many a times when I come across someone who writes I always want to encourage them to keep writing. Keep their conversation on with the conscious with the self.

 

Poetries have the power to say a lot in very few words. It compels one to go beyond what can be seen. Words or language were invented to create and express. You can create people the way you want them to be just through your language. We are just empty beings without language or communication.

 

Creating through words vividly, creating a colorful picture through imagination.

 

Poetries are not written they are born. Just like a woman goes through the pain before delivering a child, a poet undergoes an inevitable emotional pain before giving birth to a poetry. It does give immense joy and satisfaction beyond words once a poetry is born.

 

Poets are very sensitive and compassionate people. Poets have an ability to express their emotions whether of sadness or happiness in a very special way.

 

Some of my poems have given me a lot of comfort unconditional support when I needed it the most.

 

Poetry Vs Poem - Technically - Poetry is the use of words and language to evoke a writer's feelings and thoughts, while a poem is the arrangement of these words. Poetry is the process of creating a literary piece using metaphor, symbols and ambiguity, while a poem is the end result of this process.
